Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education

At Ash Grove, we believe that PSHE plays a vital part of primary education, as being an integral thread, weaving through everything that we do. As such, as well as discrete focused lessons, it is embedded throughout the curriculum enabling our pupils to become healthy, secure, independent and responsible members of society. We believe that the promotion of pupilsā€™ personal and social development fundamentally underpins all other learning.

We believe that PSHE is integral to the development of childrenā€™s values in order for them to become positive citizens in a forever changing community. Through our progressive curriculum, our school environment, and our school ethos, we promote pupilsā€™ self-esteem and emotional well-being; promote British values; and provide the skills that pupils will need to succeed in -and positively contribute to- the wider world. Lessons are sensitively planned, taking thorough consideration for the needs and demands of the pupils in our care. PSHE is an integral part of our school assemblies as childrenā€™s spiritual, moral, social and cultural curiosity is stimulated, challenged and nurtured.

Ash Grove pupils learn how to deal with choices and risks, and to meet the challenges that life may present with knowledge and confidence. Our schoolā€™s approach to PSHE aims to help children to identify their values and work to live up to them.
